14: Preview Window

The Preview Window allows you to preview an SVG animation using a specific device emulation profile.

Use the profile selection drop-down to select an emulation profile. For each device, except for the generic profile, there are two modes to preview the animation. Switch modes by clicking on the options button at the bottom of the window:

  • » Scaled approximation: the approximated life-size scaled view of the animation as it would appear on the handset
  • » Pixel resolution: the animation is played back at the actual pixel resolution of the target device

Two Ways to Check Your Content
Use "Scaled approximation" to check for legibility, usability, and any issues related to the actual physical size of your graphics and animations. Text elements may be too small, or compromised by a lack of anti-aliasing. The "Scaled approximation" preview can help to identify such problems before you deliver your final content.

The "Pixel resolution" mode matches your monitor's screen pixels to the screen resolution of the targeted device. This is an excellent way to check for pixel-level alignment of graphics. Use this view to confirm that your one pixel wide stroke is truly a crisp one pixel wide, and not a blurred two pixels wide.
