06: Object Browser

The Object Browser can be considered as a content management window. More than a file browser, the Object Browser enables the content creator to edit, create, and delete static content as well as preview SVG artwork for animation. (Static content, other than simple text objects, cannot be edited or created by Ikivo Animator.)

Click the "Browse" button to open a file browser, and locate any directory containing SVG files (the default directory is a set of static SVG artwork that installs with Animator). The selected directory’s contents are displayed in the Object Browser preview window. Hovering the cursor over the thumbnail previews displays a tooltip showing object ID, width, height, and file size information.

Select an illustration, and click the Insert button to bring a copy of this object into your layout. You can also drag and drop the object from the Object Browser to the Stage Window.

Optional Import Settings Speed Your Workflow
The Options drop-down lets you select whether you would like imported objects to be scaled to fit and/or to have empty groups removed from the SVG code. The "Scale to fit" option automatically resizes the objects to be 50% of the width or height (whichever dimension is greater) of the layout area. This ensures that small objects are not lost, and large objects do not overwhelm the layout area. The "Remove empty groups" option cleans up any unnecessary group objects from the SVG code so that the Animator Treeview is streamlined as much as possible.

Content is Filtered to Ensure SVG Mobile Compliance
If the inserted content is not SVG Tiny 1.1 compliant (the mobile subset of the SVG Specification), a dialog box appears, and Ikivo Animator automatically filters out non-compliant elements and attributes.
